If DEFA is printed on the remote control. This has two buttons. You use the button with the raised dot to turn the alarm ON, and the button with the hollow to turn the alarm OFF. If DEFA is NOT printed on the remote control. The alarm turns itself ON and OFF when you use the car's original remote control to lock/unlock the car. If DEFA is printed on the remote control, and it is black with 1 button, gold or silver area around the button. If DEFA is printed on the remote control, and it is black with 1 button, red area around the button. If DEFA is printed on the remote control and it has two buttons. You use the same button to turn the alarm ON and OFF.
Where to find out what alarm you have:
The mounting documentation approval was completed by the installation engineer on installation.
The emergency code card / PIN code card (does not apply to Spectra)
The rear of the alarm central unit. The unit is usually place between the pedals and the speedometer housing in the car.
