Alarm components
Central unit
The brain of the alarm which communicates with sensors, other product components (e.g. the sirens) and the car's electronics. The central unit is protected against electrical interference, and all inputs and outputs are protected against short circuits.
Standard siren
30W loudspeaker element that emits a 117 dB alarm sound. Choose between 6 different siren sounds (programmed when the alarm is installed.)

Backup siren
Sounds if the thief breaks the power supply to the alarm or disconnects the battery. Contains its own battery that only charges when the engine is running (electronically regulated). The siren has a 30W loudspeaker element giving a 117 dB alarm sound. Choose between 6 different siren sounds (programmed when the alarm is installed).

Glass breakage sensor
Triggers the alarm when windows are broken and emits low siren sounds when break-ins are attempted through the car windows (”Watch-dog” function).
Motion sensor
Registers movement inside the car. The sensor uses microwave technology to provide optimum security without false alarms. Adjustable to 8 levels of sensitivity in order to adapt to any model of car (set when alarm is fitted). Very suitable for protecting soft-top cars and van interiors. Can be supplied in 2 versions, with 2.5 m or 4.0 m cables.
Level sensor
Reacts to changes in angle and attempts to tow away the car. Provides optimum security against jacking up and theft of tyres and rims. The sensor is built around an electronic sensor element completely without moving parts. Gusts of wind or rocking the car will not trigger the alarm.
Immobiliser
3-circuit immobiliser for cars without factory-installed immobilisers.
DEFA remote control
The remote control for controlling alarms, central locking and comfort functions on cars which do not have their own remote controls.
It uses a unique, rolling code system, AGC (Anti Grabbing Code) which selects randomly between 40 billion available codes each time it is used, providing maximum security.
The remote control can be supplied in two versions, with and without a sliding switch:
1:1 Without sliding switch: For controlling alarms and central locking
3:1 With sliding switch: An extended version for controlling 3 extra comfort functions or for controlling alarms for three different vehicles.
The remote control has a range of between around 10-30 m (depending on radio interference in the area).
The lifetime of the battery is minimum 1 year under normal usage. 1-4 new remotes can easily be programmed into the alarm. Programming of new remotes erases all old ones.
LED -
The alarm's info centre
The flashing LED inside the windscreen shows that the car is installed with a DEFA alarm. The LED is supplied in 4 different colours. The red LED is standard in all DEFA AutoSecurity products.
The bonnet/hood switch
Patented by DEFA and specially developed to withstand demanding weather conditions. The switch triggers the alarm when the bonnet is opened while the alarm is activated. The switch element is encapsulated to ensure stable functioning.
Door and boot/trunk
lid switches
Can be retroinstalled to protect doors and boot lids. Normally, the car's original switches are used.
Central locking sets
Standardised central locking motors with assembly kits for use in cars that do not have factory-installed central locking. A maximum of 4 central locking motors can be connected directly to the alarm.
Power module
For electric control of comfort functions from DEFA's remote control (800 series only). The power module can e.g. be used for remote control of electric windows, electric sun roof, electric winch or other electric motors.
All DEFA alarm systems monitor doors, boot (trunk), bonnet (hood) and hot-wiring the ignition system. A glass breakage sensor triggers the alarm if a window is broken. The alarms are equipped with a powerful siren with 6 optional sounds. A flashing LED and the DEFA AutoSecurity decals on the windows warn that an alarm is installed.
The alarms can also be supplied with an integrated single-circuit immobiliser and/or a 3-circuit immobiliser for cars in which these are not factory-equipped. Sensors can also be supplied as accessories that register movement inside the car and attempts to jack it up or tow it away.
All models can be connected to a GSM unit, a DEFA SilentAlarm, for alarm notification via SMS. It’s also possible to install a BackUp siren which sounds if the power to the alarm is lost or the car battery disconnected.
The type of alarm that you should select depends on the brand and model of your car. All of the series can be easily expanded to satisfy your security level demands.
DEFA CAN is a modular-based alarm system for cars with digital electrical systems CAN (Controller Area Network) with or without remote controlled central locking.
